Will Tribal Expression Hold My Child Down to Pierce Their Ears?
The short answer
No. Tribal Expression does not hold children down for elective ear piercing, does not ask parents to hold children down, and does not continue a piercing against a child’s clear refusal. This is a central body-autonomy policy: the piercing is intended to be positive, voluntary, empowering, memorable, and family-oriented.
The no-restraint policy: positive, voluntary, and child-led — never forced.
For parents
This question deserves a completely unambiguous answer, because some studios historically answered it differently.
Three commitments
- Tribal Expression does not hold children down for elective ear piercing.
- Tribal Expression does not ask parents to hold children down.
- Tribal Expression does not continue a piercing against a child’s clear refusal.
Why
This is a central body-autonomy policy. The piercing is intended to be:
- Positive
- Voluntary
- Empowering
- Memorable
- Family-oriented
A piercing achieved through force fails its own purpose. A child who is held down does not leave proud — and a family does not leave with a good memory.
What Tribal does instead
Patience. Calm conversation. Honesty about what will happen. The option to pause or stop — and the option to come back another day. Most children, given respect and time, get there on their own.
