What Happens When You Get Your Ears Pierced

The short answer

We talk, I clean your ears, we make two tiny dots, there is a quick pinch — and then you have earrings!

Every step of getting your ears pierced, told straight — talking, cleaning, the dots, the quick part, and your care card.

Step one: we talk

First we just talk. You can ask me anything — how it feels, what the studs look like, why I do this job. Nothing happens until you know the whole plan.

Step two: sparkly clean

I clean your ears so they are super clean. It feels like a cool wipe. Easy.

Step three: the dots

I mark two tiny dots where the earrings will go. Then you and your grown-up look in the mirror with me and we decide together — if you want the dots somewhere a little different, we move them. You get a say.

Step four: the quick part

Then comes the quick part: a little pinch, over fast, and your brand-new studs are already in your ears. Most kids say "that was it?"

Step five: the care card

You get a little card about keeping your new earrings happy — a simple routine, and your grown-up helps. That is how ears heal beautifully.

One important thing

A grown-up who takes care of you has to say it is okay first. And one more: you never have to be brave in silence — see Feeling Nervous and Yes, Pause, Stop.
